My Health is No Longer a Monday to Friday Job

Monday to Friday

I was a Monday to Friday girl for many years. From work, to exercise, to eating well; it only happened on weekdays. Then weekends came and I consumed all the carbs I hadn’t eaten during the week, overindulged and stayed up much too late. Monday mornings came way too fast and I often wondered what I accomplished over the weekend.

Routine

I have been on my health journey for 10 months now and focusing on routines has been so rewarding. Carrying that routine over to the weekend has made a world of difference for me. My weekend routine looks a little different than my weekday routine but continues to focus on healthy foods, exercising and self-care.

Saturdays at the Farmer’s Market

Here in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, we have a lovely market as part of our waterfront community. I have enjoyed the market all summer long and will continue to go until the harvest season is over. It has been so nice to get to know the vendors and chat with others while shopping for our fruits, veggies, flowers, and other handmade items. From local maple syrup to candles, baked goods, pottery and so much more; it is a lovely way to connect with the community.

Following the market, I enjoy a beautiful run along the boardwalk and then stop at our local Gelato Shop for a coffee before heading home.

Sunday Meal Prep

Meal prep in the summer months looks a little different also but even the smallest preparations can go a long way in helping to have healthy meals and snacks available throughout the week. Over morning coffee I love to pick the recipes from our Naked Health collections that I will be preparing. A quick trip to the grocery store to get what is needed after incorporating Saturday’s market purchases into the meal plan and I’m ready! I like to prepare a couple of meals and make sure to prepare at least one snack such as Naked Donuts or Energy Balls.

Keeping Health a Priority

Keeping to a routine on the weekends has helped me to keep my health a priority and keeps me feeling energetic all week long. It also helped me to actually have more time to enjoy at camp, gardening, or hiking with family because I start my days earlier and am much more productive with my time. Monday mornings are now welcomed as the start of a brand new week with new health intentions and goals!
